Simul Support ExchangeCategory: CloudsClouds Keep Resetting
pftq asked 4 years ago

Each time I reload the project or package the game in UE4.25, the clouds are resetting in the newest version of the plugins (both 4.1 and 4.2).  This didn’t happen on an older version of the plugin on UE 4.23 from November.  Attached is a fresh blank project with 4.1 having full cloudiness at 100%.  However, if you load the project or package it, there are clearly gaps in the clouds that don’t go away unless you open the sequence editor or toggle visibility a few times to refresh Truesky.  Unfortunately doing this in blueprints doesn’t seem to reset it at runtime.

If it helps, I found out that toggling visibility does not actually do anything in the newest version of 4.1. So that might be related to why they are stuck on default cloudiness.

Actually nothing in blueprints seems to work with Truesky 4.1 for UE 4.25. So maybe Truesky isn’t initializing properly?

I found a workaround.  Set progression to 86400 (anything less doesn’t get you to exactly the keyframe you wanted).  Then in EventBeginPlays, add a delay for 1 second and afterward set progression back to 0, set time to what you wanted originally.  It looks like progression=0 is what was causing the plugin to fail – was a division by zero bug introduced in the last few versions?

Hi
I was only able to reproduce the error with 4.1a. I will speak with my colleague today about your issue.
I wanted to mention that 4.1a is legacy, and thus support of that version is limited, therefore I would advise using a newer version of a trueSKY. Is there a reason that you are using 4.1a?

Best Wishes,
Andrew

Check the thread about nighttime clouds in 4.2a – the newer plugin is very inferior when it comes producing night time scenes, at least far as I can tell. The plugin has also been inconsistent, with results sometimes disappearing on project load. If there is a way to create the moonlit clouds similar to in 4.1a, please advise or share a project file.

Hi

I have spoken with my colleagues. It’s very unlikely that we would be making changes to 4.1a because it is legacy. We are working on a new version trueSKY 4.3 which will include a 4.1a rendering option, which might be of interest to you. We are continually working on updates and fixes to address issues in 4.2a.

Thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter.

Best Wishes,
Andrew

Then please prioritize 4.1a rendering. It’s a step backwards for me to update to 4.2a because it cannot get anywhere close to the appearance of 4.1a at night time.
