Simul Support ExchangeCategory: CloudsClouds look weird in the viewport of Unreal Engine 4.25.2.

It doesn’t work well in Unreal Engine 4.25.2.
You can see what the problem is by looking at the YouTube video below.
https://youtu.be/hFo0X_HgLoc

It is visible in the viewport, but it is strangely broken, and neither rain nor snow is visible. This is the default option, and no other options have been adjusted.
And on 4.24 it works fine. But in 4.25.2 it looks weird.
The version is the latest version and is still a trial.

Hi Picsel.
It appears your amortization (both cloud and atmosphere) may be set to a higher value, which will be what is causing the strange pattern when updating.
As for the rain and snow not being visible, we are aware of the issue and have it logged with a workaround here – https://simul.co/question/currently-known-issues-in-the-latest-update/
Essentially a faulty default was set for the latest 4.25 build and can be fixed easily by altering the precipitation settings in the sequence actor and changing the rain near threshold from its default of 30, down to its minimum.

Hope these help – feel free to reach out with any other questions if needed!

Thank you so much for the answer. The rain was resolved.
However, the cloud still doesn’t look clean even though I have added the option.
In the image below, you can see the options I set.
Maximum Cloud Resolution 1024
Render Grid Xkm 0.05
Render Grid Ykm 0.05

Even though I set up after watching the tutorial you provided (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuLxaz2ZvLk ), it is not strangely clean. Please help one more time. Thank you.

Hi picsel – glad that it solved the rain issue. Taking a look at the settings your provided and reproducing them within my scene reproduced your issue. Lowering the amortization down to 1 will fix your issue. (Here is a picture for clarity – https://imgur.com/a/NbQuZgS).

For a slightly more in depth explanation, the amortization controls how often we update the clouds within the scene, and due to the wind-speed causing the clouds to churn, this slower update from having amortization set to 4 causes the artifacts you are seeing. So lowering this down to 1, which will cause the updates to happen more often, will remove the visual artifacts.

Hope that solves your issue. And I’m glad your enjoying the tutorial!
