Simul Support ExchangeCategory: CloudsTruesky won't show clouds for HDRP
Adam Z asked 3 years ago

I’m running Unity 2020.1.7f1, and trueSKY-Unity2021-4.3.be5481665-x64. After installing I created a blank scene then choose Game Object > Initialize trueSKY in scene. After I choose the Sequence (Cirrocumulus) and play the scene, the sky is black. If I try to open your “TestLevelHDRP” no clouds show.  My license has been added and shows in the Sequencer. What do you suggest? Thanks.

You may be in the same boat as me. Check Project Settings > HDRP Default Settings and see if you still have an HDRenderPipelineAsset set.

I have had moderate luck with 4.3a for Unity 2021 with 2020.3.3f1 but it has some of it’s own issues (shadows not rendering). Let me know if you figure something out!

I am also unable to get this working with HDRP. I’ve tried 2020.3 and 2021.1. Please advise. I see there is a Unity tutorial for setup but with a strong disclaimer that it is not a guide for HDRP. Any documentation would be helpful.

I also sent a bug report about this and asked what version of Unity does this build work with on 6/2, no response yet and it’s 6/15.

16 days later I finally got a reply, asking me more questions about the issue and checking some things for them. I suggested that they install the latest build and check it themselves. They’re using 2021.1.0f1 for their latest. There are 12 newer builds than what they’re using in-house.
I also tried using Simul’s 2020 release with the latest build of Unity 2020 LTS. You would think that would work. Nope.
Very dissapointed.

That’s too bad. It seems they are focusing more of their energies on Unreal than Unity. I also have a support line open via Slack and I have yet to get a working version from them.

It’s a shame. I know Unity is woring on there own version of a volumetric cloud system:
https://github.com/Unity-Technologies/Graphics/blob/master/com.unity.render-pipelines.high-definition/Documentation~/Override-Volumetric-Clouds.md

I haven’t tried it yet since I don’t know how to use GitHub.

Unfortunately, this is an issue with Unity 2020. Unity 2021 has a fully working native plugin integration for D3D12, but 2020 does not. If  you are able to update to 2021, the issue should be resolved.

New project, Unity 2021.1.12f1 HDRP. Installed trueSKY-Unity2021-4.3.97791c9f1-x64. Followed the steps using Game Object > Initilize TrueSKY in Scene. After steps completed, no clouds. Tried running TestLevelHDRP that was provided, no clouds. License is activated.
