Simul Support ExchangeUnable to build standalone sample programs – missing files in SDK?
Florian Weischer asked 4 years ago

Hello,
I’m planning on potentially integrating TrueSky into a custom game Engine, but I want to try it out first. After installing the latest standalone SDK (4.2a.ad98a5953) and building a Visual Studio (2019) solution with CMake, I’m unable to build the demo applications shipped with the SDK (specifically “SimulOpenGLSample_MD”).
I’m getting several errors about missing “sl” include files, such as:

  • “Simul/Shaders/SL/sky_constants.sl”
  • “Platform/Shaders/SL/CppSl.sl”
  • “Simul/Shaders/SL/gpu_cloud_constants.sl”
  • “Simul/Shaders/SL/simul_cloud_constants.sl”
  • “Simul/Shaders/SL/noise_constants.sl”

which are indeed not included in the SDK. I’m probably just missing something obvious, but I couldn’t find a tutorial for building the sample programs neither.
Is there another step I have to do first or some dependency I need?

Hi All – This has now been fixed and will be available when our next update is released, which is scheduled for no later than the end of the month.

Has the new update been released yet? The download page shows no date for the latest release, so I’m not sure when it was published…

It looks like it still hasn’t been updated, I am just afraid of running out the extended trial period too, without even being able to use the SDK.

Hello James, Any update on this? the release date you talked about is long gone. What you do seems impressive, but I’m still looking for a way to test it myself. I’m sad I can’t

Thanks Florian, thanks for getting in touch.

You are correct that our build is not passing over all of the correct files, so this is an issue on our end. I will get this sorted quickly – thanks!

Thanks for the quick response!
I don’t mean to rush, but is there an eta on when I can expect this to be fixed approximately? I only have a trial license at the moment, and I’d like to try out the SDK before my license runs out.

If you trial extends before we release a fix – just let me know and I am happy to extend. Cant give an exact ETA currently but I’ve made sure the issue has been noted.

Hi, I’m experiencing the exact same issue – and sadly I’ve just gotten my trial license too. Is there an older build without this issue I can experiment with until the fiix is out?

Faruk Ero?lu replied 4 years ago

I’ve tried older builds up to april ones, with all having the same issue.
