Simul Support ExchangeTrueSky and Oceanology
jony1287 asked 4 years ago

Hi, I apologize for my poor English.

I use TrueSky and Oceanology, but I have a problem the clouds are not visible above the water.
Do you have any idea how it can be fixed ?

Hi Jony1287 –
As Davis has mentioned, trueSKY currently has a few issues with translucent objects. We have a translucent material example (which can be found within the trueSKY folder created within the content browser upon initializing). This example can be used as a basis and guideline for settings up translucent materials to work correctly with trueSKY. Which you could integrate with Oceanology potentially (I personally have no used or own oceanology so am unsure on the specifics of going about this)

Alternatively as mentioned by Davis, we offer trueWater alongside trueSKY which you could potentially use instead.

Thanks
Chris

Chris,

Is there any way we can, for a future version of TrueSky, make rendering possible for all translucent objects?

In order to achieve an Oceanology shader like your mentioned Example, we would either have to meddle with the deep workings of the shader or, finding that won’t work, compromise not having all of its features which is critical. Do you think you can add it to our wishlist of important features?

TrueSky doesn’t mix well with translucent objects– my tinted windows can be seen through the clouds.  Unfortunately, there is no fix for this.

There’s TrueSky Water, which functions well with TrueSky, but it doesn’t have the vast array of features Oceanology has.

The only way around this in the case of the ocean is swap out the translucent ocean for an opaque version of the Oceanology surface (which means you’ll have to make a copy of and meddle with the ocean shader) when you get to the height of the clouds.
