Hello, in which version of UE4 does buoyancy work ?
I saw that you wrote that you will release an update with a fix for version ue4 4.25.
But I wanted to test it and tried with UE4 versions 4.24, 4.21, and it doesn’t work there either.
I tested a simple buoyancy of a sphere as in your video.
Hi Vasil,
Buoyancy is something we are working on across all versions.
Wayne
Hi Wayne, loving trueSky so far. Just wondering if the buoyancy as shown in the youtube video above is a tech demo of a future update as opposed to a working feature in the standard branch of UE4? Like Vasil I’ve also tried to get this working but no luck.
Best,
Tom
buoyancy seems to work fine in trueSKY v4.2 [LEGACY] versions but is broken in trueSKY v4.2a versions.
In broken versions, when you add TrueSkyWaterBuoyancy to an object and then add TrueSkyWaterProbe as a child to that, the expected buoyancy effect is broken and the object will only either fall or raise in elevation and settings to adjust the MassInKg or TrueSkyWaterProbe Sphere Radius don’t actual adjust buoyancy but instead seem to alter the gravity of the object. e.g. setting the MassInKg to 1 on a Basic Sphere will cause it to function like a balloon full of helium floating to the sky.
Hi Stephen – Buoyancy has a bug (as you’ve outlined) within the current 4.2a release – but has been fixed within our internal builds (which will be released to the public relatively soon). functionality between 4.2 and 4.2a versions should however be identical.
apologise for any inconvenience caused by these bugs, we are looking to get a new build through internal testing and ready for release in the coming weeks to ensure our next update is as stable and addresses as many issues as possible.
Chris
Thanks Chris!
Hi, I just spent a load of time trying to get the buoyancy to work by following the video tutorial, but I just saw this thread. Has the buoyancy issue been resolved yet in the latest version 4.3? I just want to make sure I am not wasting my time struggling with a bug.
Hi Ingmar – The buoyancy is functional within the latest 4.3 builds for unreal and we have not had any reports to confirm otherwise.
If you do encounter any issues, or you need any assistance don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thanks
okay, thanks! I’ll keep trying then.
Is this the case for current Unity versions also?
Do you have an answer to my question ?
