I’ve picked up a couple of issues using with the new build and unreal 4.25 and ray-tracing.
Skylight- produces no diffuse component once ray-traced shadows are switched on. ie only produces a specular component.
Truesky does not render when using the new render queue to render frames- I need to do this to utilise the temporal and spatial multisampling.
some help would be very much appreciated as I’m in the middle of a live production and we need the 4.25 rendering feature set. If I cant find a fix im going to have to axe Truesky
Hi David – We will investigate the ray-tracing and skylight issue you have found – as for truesky not rendering with the new render queue’s, I believe a fix to this is to go to project settings -> trueSKY (near the bottom) -> and then lower the minimum view size (dropping it to 400 fixed the screen appearing black with a UE4 sequencer open however you may need to go slightly lower). This was due to the unreal sequencer making the view port window smaller than we had the cutoff point for not rendering trueSKY (in order to save performance when having small windows, such as camera previews, on lower end machines), and changing this value in the project settings should fix this.
Thanks Chris
Hi Chris, thanks for the swift response. I had already lowered those values when trying to diagnose the problem. I’ve just tried a number of values down to 0 and still no sky rendered I’m afraid. It just comes out black.
Ahhh yeah i just had a further look into this and the new rendering queue – and I’m getting the same – I couldn’t figure out a work around for that issue sadly but have grabbed all the necessary information from my reproduction to get someone to look into it.
Apologies for any inconvenience this is causing – We will look to get this solved as soon as possible.
Chris
I see this topic is already 2 months old and no solution on the horizon?
REALLY need some kind of update, It’s been quite a while. I’m still having this issue too. Water and sky both black, all of my other GEO lights up properly. Lighting works fine with sequencer but then AA quality is bad and everything extremely jagged.
