Simul Support ExchangeCategory: WaterShallow water effect possible?
asked 3 years ago

I would need to create this kind of translucent, shallow water with very minimum waves. It would be necessary to have a depth effect that fades from shallow beach to darker tones.
Is this possible with the water plugin? When I tested the plugin I was only able to get more rough ocean type of feel.

I would need to adjust how translucent the water is to see more of the beach below

Also how do I get the water to reflect the actual sky, not just a ball of light? I tried both screenspace and raytracing in TrueSKYPostProcessVolume but they seem to do nothing

Hello
In the pictures you linked, the water looks quite a lot shallower than in the example scene you’ve put together, so won’t look quite like what you’re after. The general translucency of the water can be modified in the water colour settings by increasing the value of the scattering.
The water does reflect the sky, but only at shallower angles than your given screenshots due to what is known as the ‘Fresnel effect’. As well as this, rougher waves will not give as much reflectance as a smooth surface.
I hope this has helped,
Lily
