Simul Support ExchangeCategory: Sky and LightingUE4 built-in sequencer compatibility
jiang kuo asked 4 years ago

Hi truesky,
I am using UE4 built-in sequencer to record a cutscene. I added truesky sequencer into the track and altered “Time” value, but it won’t work, the time value changes in built-in sequencer but not in truesky sequencer. Is that possible using UE4 built-in sequencer to control truesky sequencer? Or is there any other way i can record a cutscene?
Thanks

Hi Jiang Kuo,

Due to the fact that the trueSKY sequencer is a custom UI element we added, having the time move within a unreal sequencer wont cause the timeline within the trueSKY sequencer to move, however the time stated within the trueSKY actor will update, and this will respect all of the keyframe and time of day changes made in the trueSKY sequencers timeline. I have noticed you may need to be simulating your scene when pressing play on the unreal sequencer to see the effects, however it should work (and did on a test I just ran) when playing while simulating and when rendering out a recording.

I will point you towards our youtube tutorial on the topic – here  I’d also like to bring to your attention that in current builds trueSKY does not work with unreals movie render queue feature, It does work as expected with the regular unreal cinematic sequencer however.

Hope this helps, and any further questions feel free to ask.

I just stumbled upon the UE4 movie render incompatibility. Is a fix/change planned for this or will it never be possible to record movies using sequences?

Yes! It actually works after I press play and render. Thank you Chris, very helpful.
