Simul Support ExchangeCategory: CloudsWhat happened to wind speed?
Chris Moss asked 3 years ago

I just upgraded to UE4 4.26 and am a little baffled by the changes made to Trusky. First of all 4.3 doesn’t seem to really be working at all as far as cloud movement. Is this still in beta? After installing 4.2a, I noticed there is no longer any wind speed parameter within cloud keyframes any longer. How are we supposed to create a constant movement of the clouds without it? I saw the “tutorial” posted on youtube, but that method of animating cloud position is really terrible. It doesn’t work in 4.3, and in 4.2, it seems impossible to create a steady movement of the clouds without the position ping-ponging back and forth. It seems like every update this plugin breaks something that was working fine before. Really dissapointing.

Hi Chris,
The wind speed parameter is still available for use, it is now within the trueSKY actor. You can use this to drive a constant cloud movement by selecting the cloud layer you wish to have continuous movement and unticking the “manually position keyframes”.
Let me know if this solves your issue, or if you have any other questions. I will note this down and improve the documentation so hopefully other users don’t have the same problems. Apologies for any inconvenience this caused.

That check box doesn’t seem to exist in 4.2a. In 4.3, it is there and while the cloud movement works when being viewed in the editor, in game the movement is eratic, changing shape drastically a few times a second.

I tried reinitializing Trusky with version 4.3 to see if that would fix the issue, but now clouds do not show up in the sky at all, but the cloud shadows still work.

That seems to only adjust the churn on the clouds. That’s what the tooltip says as well.

What happened to the tick box for “manually position keyframes”? Wasn’t it next to loop? I’m not seeing it anymore.

Apologies – this was a system that came with 4.3, I had assumed you were working with the latest plugins so is not available when using 4.2a. The tick box is within the “main” section of the cloud layer – just above the Volumes section.
Sadly your image has not loaded, so I cannot see what you attempted to send.
Your 4.3 clouds not functioning is interesting and not something we have seen, which engine version and settings are you utilizing so I can attempt to reproduce locally and get a bug logged?
