It seems that Unreal’s upcoming water tech will be a bit more capable in than TrueSky’s water offering. Can/will TrueSky support a user using Unreal’s water instead of TruSky’s water?

Simul’s trueWATER is controlled through TrueSkyWater actors in Unreal Engine and is thus an optional feature.
We continually update our water system, and trueWATER will naturally integrate with trueSKY.
I will pass on your concerns to Michael to who developed trueWATER.
